Northwest Gaelic Country Electrical Standards

Travelling with electrical appliances requires that two factors be considered:

Voltage
The standard voltage in Ireland is 240 Volts AC, 50Hz. Sometimes shaver outlets are convertible to 110-120 Volts. Any electrical appliance normally used for a different voltage must either have dual voltage compatibility, (most modern electric shavers and small personal travel appliances do) or be attached to a converter for small appliances.

Sockets
The standard plug is the cumbersome (but much safer) three-square pin type. Some outlets are two-round pin type mostly for shavers. Adapters to convert appliances to fit Irish electrical sockets are readily available outside the Ireland.
