Galway, the largest city in Northwest Gaelic Country, is a prosperous commercial centre that retains many characteristics of the small fishing village it once was. Traditional Claddagh Rings originated in the nearby town of Claddagh, and Galway has several jewellery stores where these are available. Connemara National Park, north of Letterfrack, spans nearly 3,000 hectares and includes several of the Twelve Bens Mountains. Restored Donegal Castle in Donegal town is another attraction worth visiting in Northwest Gaelic Country.
